Webb6 okt. 2024 · Greetings friends, I had Dave build a small body HEI for my engine and need some information on the best choices for plugs. Dave recommends an 045 gap according to the sheet he sends with his conversions. My engine is a 462 with SD built 670 heads with the CNC port work. Webb24 sep. 2024 · This is NOT AN AD, just clarification, one of the first 5 small-body HEI conversions I did, in 1979, still in service, and running well, REAL HEI, no failures, just a no BS conversion, and, yes, the core was a used mess as shown. WebbThe HEI module generates a lot of heat that must be dissipated in order for the module to have long life. The large cap HEI distributors just used the distributor body as the heat sink. The PN 10474610 heat sink was used on later computer-controlled ignition systems but will work with the 4-pin module when modified with some new holes. Webb28 juni 2014 · I thought all small body HEI distributors were computer controlled. Anyway, later TPI engines came with a small body HEI. Get one of those and an adapter so your existing harness can plug into it.

If you break down on the road, you can find replacement parts at almost any auto parts store. But in either case, both Pertronics and Dave Ray's setups convert a standard breaker point distributor to an HEI setup. Some have run them for several years. I have one too, but not installed yet.
